Am I the only one who thinks this smells like Loves Baby Soft from back in the day?

maggiekane

I was so excited for this because I looove a good trashy fragrance but Pink Sugar made me so nauseous and just didn’t live up to the hype for me.

Marinka71

My three previous posts about Pink Sugar show how complex relationship with one's perfume can be-in first I really like it, in second I'm having second thoughts and in a third, confronted with loss of it, I realise I need it in my life. ♥️ And we've only been together for month and a half ☺️

reag123

with always the reviews saying this is “girly” and nice , i expected something different. It just smells cheap, it smells something similar to a vape flavour. You can pick up 2 pound perfumes that are more desirable than this one. i do not reccomend but if that’s what you reccomend then go for it

Tshahb

I bought New York Intense from a discount website, and on w whim I threw this in the basket, as I've heard so many people race about it in perfume podcasts.

It was 10 euros for 50ml, so nothing to lose.

What I expected was some sort of childish, synthetic nightmare candy thing, but what I got was far from that.

It's a real perfume with nuance and beauty. It's sweet, but not sickly, and it has this fluffy, ethereal quality that I can't stop sniffing.

I love the use of licorice to deepen thz composition and give it a very slight edge.

The biggest surprise was that I found myself wearing it immediately, and it's wonderful. For the record I'm a 43 year old, smart, professional, self-employed man living in Paris.

This is a steal for the price, and is the best sweet perfume I've come across in a long time.

CunningStunt

Idgaf that I'm about to turn 33 and wear all black.. I wear this without shame and it actually makes me feel a bit more upbeat, carefree even. Perhaps like our middle school/teen years ? Millennials, y'all heard me lol. And some days with all the craziness that is life, such a boost is all a person needs. Nothin' fancy, but it sure hits the spot.
Also, this is my most ever complimented perfume by a long shot. And I have a -lot- of perfume. :D

Marinka71

So, I dropped my bottle on the bathroom floor and sadly it broke and juice is lost. On the plus side, the bathroom smells wonderful, of caramel and cake. And I *crave* my Pink Sugar. I totally need replacement bottle asap. ♥️

peonylust

ohhh pink sugar you have made me so sad. i bought this expecting the vanilla caramel fragrance everyone was raving about, and instead i found a perfume that opens with a nauseating burnt cotton candy smell, and settles down into an obnoxious licorice. ok, maybe i'm being a little dramatic, but i dislike licorice and this to me smells like a car freshener. buy this if you love licorice and tonka smells! longevity and sillage are fine.

lrobin8205

I think my bottle might be quite old. I bought it used on eBay in 2018 and the juice has darkened so much to a deep brown. This is exquisite. Perfectly blended caramely goodness with a realistic but soft black licorice note and the musk! It dries down to a stunning sweet musk. Once I put it on my tray it’s all I want to wear. I have to hide it from myself out of sight lol. I also for some Odd reason love to go running it. If and when I get through this large bottle (about 1/3 empty) I hope the new ones smell as good. Also, this is way superior to Agqua y Zuchario imo.

Ayshin

All that i can smell is sandalwood after dried down
Last only an hour
This is pure trash, don't waste your money in this eventho this is dirt cheap

fragrancefanatic212

The most pungent and headache-inducing perfume i've ever smelled smells like a plastic wrapper melted and fused with an extremely sweet black liquorice sweet on a hot summers day.

strawbfairy

My boyfriend hates Pink Sugar and thinks it smells like burning plastic (the only man in existence to ever hate this perfume lol). I love it. But, I used to LOVE it. To me, it smelled way better when I first bought it though (it’s 4 years old now). I feel like I’m the only person on the planet who thinks this perfume smells better when it’s new, everyone on TikTok talks about how it needs to macerate for 2 years before it’s good. Probably because the licorice note is completely gone now but I personally think that the licorice note balanced out the burnt sugar note (which isn’t my favourite) and made it deliciously sweet instead of sickenly sweet. I still love it though! It really is the perfect layering scent to sweeten up any perfume, because it is stronnggg and the lasting power is amazing.

LynneDarling

Can we talk about nostalgia? It's been my vibe this year. So, when I spotted this perfume at TJ Max on sale, there was no way I could resist. Just one lonely bottle left, waiting for me. Once upon a time, I was all about this scent. But as the years flew by, my collection grew, and I never replaced it. Until now. And let me tell you, I'm thrilled I reunited with it.

Pink Sugar is that girl. You know, the pretty one who catches everyone's eye. She's got this playful warmth and bubbly personality that's just irresistible. Everyone likes her, and even if you “don’t” you secretly do. Now, as a grown woman, I can appreciate the hint of playful sophistication in its fragrance. Wearing it again doesn't make me feel juvenile; it's simply delicious.

The fruity top notes dance for a few minutes before settling into this creamy, smooth caramel, cotton candy aroma, with a touch of elegant florals. Close your eyes, and you’ll swear you're on a date at the summer fair, with wafts of cotton candy and sugary donuts filling the air. Hugging onto the bouquet of flowers your date bought for you! It's a fun, flirty scent that's not too overpowering. Trust me, it'll get you noticed. It lasts a good 4 hours on my skin and all day on my clothes. And now, in my mid-30s, I can sense the sophisticated sexiness lingering in the background, a nuance I didn't quite catch in my 20s, but that I very much appreciate now.

VMonster

Spray lightly and enjoy the magic. I swear this stuff is otherwordly.

hevke

im a gourmand LOVERRR and the opening is soo strong especially with the (really realistic imo) licorice note, straight up smells like licorice candy and i fkn hate anything licorice LMAO i honestly didnt think it would be that strong. the opening is rlly bad imo :(

however, the dry down is sooooo delicious, sweet, warm, caramel goodness and marshmallowy powderiness! it smells the way roasted marshmallows taste with a burnt sugar coating! but not like a BURNT burnt sugar, like a creme brulee burnt sugar lol

basically, get it. u cant go wrong with the price - its girly, sexy (if ur in ur 20s) and i understand why its such a compliment getter! im actually surprised by this scents complexity lol

an alternative for PS is al rehab - soft, however the dry down on soft is not as good as PS. it has so much more citrus than PS. still a good, non complex scent though!

TheDecantingWitch

headache inducing and nauseating.

hysteria1988

I see people saying this smells like cotton candy, marshmallow etc etc, to me it smells like cookie dough, really sweet and sugary, lovely if you like sweet smells, lasts a good few hours on me. I would probably re-purchase this if i ran out of it.

anaesthesiaangel

sweet sweet sweet. pure sugar. cotton candy. there’s a caramelised note too, which adds richness. also slightly cupcakey 🧁

synthetic, not pure foodiness, but that adds to the charm. it’s cheap, sickly smelling, and yummy.

AND, such a compliment magnet, be prepared to be heavenly to everyone’s noses 🪽🤍

the downside is, you really have to fit a particular profile for this to work. the further you stray from: pretty 20yr old blonde girl with a cute face who wears tight pink crop tops, the more likely it just won’t work and will look/feel like an unfortunate juxtaposition

Jill Costello

Pink sugar went from hate to love for me quickly. At first I got hit with synthetic cotton candy body spray and licorice. After a few minutes it turned into smooth burnt sugar cotton candy with tonka caramel and vanilla undertones. Girly and fun. Lasting power in amazing. Hated the opening but love the dry down. I have gone through bottles of this and have some of the flankers now. Consider me hooked.

Macleay

What a delight! I’d never smelled Pink Sugar and had been wanting to for a while, and finally made the plunge and bought a lovely little gift set from Walgreens a month ago. The licorice is what absolutely makes this for me. I don’t know if I’d wear it without that (but who knows, I’m after all a LDBS girl). To me that’s what keeps it from falling into being a fragrance for children and children only.

When I got it I imagined it as a comforting bedtime scent that I probably wouldn’t wear out of the house, but I was proven wrong. Not only has it been worn out and about, but complimented as well! I just find it to be such a cheerful scent, and sweet not only in scent but character. Yes, it’s deeply early 2000s to early 2010s but I quite like that about it. Think hot pink, early Britney Spears, icy eyeshadow and sticky lipgloss, Katy Perry in her candy land era, etc.

I can see why some people get a burnt scent from it. That licorice note, while gorgeous I can understand why it’s controversial for some. But to me it deepens and provides a hint of nuance to the other notes, particularly the raspberry, cotton candy, and caramel. On that note, the interpretation of the cotton candy in this fragrance is one of my favorites I’ve smelled. It just smells dense and concentrated yet airy and light as at the same time, just like actual spun sugar. It’s the platonic ideal of a cotton candy for the cotton candy lovers. The scent as a whole is shockingly, beautifully well-blended.

Pink Sugar wears better than any scent by Byredo, Jo Malone, or any expensive natural fragrance brand (😅 but also 🥲). For me it lasts 7+ hours. I’ve already made a considerable dent in my bottle and I could even see myself repurchasing. There’s no shame in some good, clean (not to mention candy sweet) olfactory fun. Is it mature? No of course not, but I’m not worried about that and if you truly enjoy the scent, I don’t think you should be either. Just give in and let yourself by wooed by it. I prefer to wear fragrance for my own pleasure and joy rather than to impress or receive compliments, but Pink Sugar not only brings the former, but the latter on top of it.

CatWalk

I'm in my bedroom, my mom surprises me with a new Barbie doll. I unwrap the box and smile in excitement, as soon as I open the box the smell of a fresh Barbie fills up my bedroom. It's so pink, it's so sweet and it's so plasticky.
That was the first imagine in my head when I dared to sniff this fragrance. Not for the adult version of me, but I understand the nostalgia appeal of it.

unlimitedfrysauce

This was a fail for me, which surprised me as I've never met a gourmand I didn't adore. All I get is burned sugar, focus on the burned part. It wears better on my kids - who get more sweetness out of it - might just be a body chemistry thing. Glad I bought the small bottle.

fragrancefanatic212

Sickeningly sweet smells like licorice, and a tooth achingly sweet synthetic candy. It projects and you can't seem to escape it which if you like the scent it a positive. Almost ashtray smelling at times weirdly.

Elisabeth M.

This perfume is pure indulgence. Scent-wise it clearly is a 2000's babe and exudes a beautiful nostalgia of that era. Even though it carries "sugar" in its name, PS is quite different from the sugary gourmands that flood the market nowadays. It is sweet but so well blended and there is a sensuality beneath, that makes this fragrance so addictive.

anamawsity

Meh. On the initial spray, this is super sweet but quite sharp. After about 15 minutes, it fades a lot and turns into a more powdery fruity scent. It lasts about 4 hours and has minimal sillage.

johanna.lindholm

This perfume is a BEAST! The most intense cheapie that I've ever run into. The longevity of this beats many niche perfumes. However, it's very polarizing and not exactly classy in any way. I used to really hate it, but somehow I got a craving for something ultra sweet and picked this up for a very low price. You get 100 ml for about 20 bucks or something like that. And you sure as hell don't overspray it, because you will get nausea. You can smell it on yourself even the day after, so proceed with caution! As I said, not a classy perfume, very girly and juvenile, but sometimes that's just what you crave.

dalialoveperfume

it lasts longer than victoria secret, wow

marshmallowmami

wait, why do i adore this? i tried a tester bottle at marshalls. i'm so late to the game. a sweet, unique, but inoffensive scent that isn't trying too hard to be childish nor mature. need to buy soon~

MaisonMarshmallow

I spray this 3-5 times on myself in the morning. 8 hours later me and others can still smell the sugar scent on me. I love gourmand perfumes, and I LOVE this!

Blindbuybby

I bought this as a blind buy based on my love for Britney Spears Fantasy, Juicy Couture and anything sweet. Honestly shouldn’t have spend my hard earned money on it even though I got it for around 15 bucks.

It smells horrible. Definitely a scrubber for me. Doesn’t smell sweet to me at all and the synthetic note is overpowering. Do you know that smells of your old schoolbuilding where they wouldn’t be able to clean all the sticky soda corners throughout the years so you can just smell the bacteria? That smell.

Very disappointed, hoping to sell it.

PocketBacOceanPearl

I saw all the raving about this scent, so bought it to try it out. It gave me a headache upon the first spray, and I had that headache all day. Didn't enjoy how cloying and artificial it smelled. Overly candy-sweet.

Wnmiller5

I don’t get the love for this scent at all. Smells like teenage summer camp. Maybe ever a swim came (ie chlorine). There is just something chemical smelling and juvenile about it. I don’t see the appeal. But I’m also not really a gourmand girl. I also can’t smell any of the notes, except maybe some burnt sugar in the dry down.

Bearfalling

This is heavenly. I hate those liquorice candies but the licorice note in Pink Sugar is just delicous!

Marinka71

Update: the scent lingers longest on my clothes. It has its charms as I wrote in my previous post, but drydown on my clothes also makes me think and feel following: bordering too sweet, *very* juvenile (target group- children. No, really.), bordering cheap and trashy, lingering note of scented erasers from 70ies.
I am using my Pink sugar at home, for my own pleasure, because I like very sugary gourmandes. But as it is, I don't think I would wear it in public.
P.s. This stuff is atomic. My clothes is washed and it still smells of the scent.

Peanutbutterandsmelly

Love her or hate her, you know Pink Sugar when you smell her. I love this scent, it's unapologetically girly and fun. It isn't trying to be mature and I love it for that reason. Performance is pretty good, especially for the price. There's a reason it's a 2000s classic!

MacabreLemon

I would spray this at least an hour before being with other people. There's a strong artificial tone in the opening that makes it hard to appreciate. It does have good longevity, and once the artificial scent drys down it's a steady, strong gourmand.

vmpika

If you love sugary scents, this is for sure the one for you! I use this perfume as a layer for sweetness with my other scents mainly because it doesn't last long by itself. Very lovely scent tho! Perfect for someone younger as well, I remember this being my first perfume as a pre teen, though I still wear it at 18 LOL

poopoopants

this is oddly like cookie esque? maybe the dry down atleast on my skin is very cookie esque honestly the anise set me off at first and the citrus but the dry down is oddly wonderful and wearable and i kinda like it?

moxly

it smells like sunscreen to me... i dont know

Marinka71

So my eagerly awaited 30 ml bottle arrived today. Blind buy based on notes, reviews and maybe a bit of hype.
Upon spraying on my skin, it opens with burst of fruits, sugar and I think I can smell fig leaf.

It evolves into licorice candy scent 🍬 with lingering doll head note. (It's here I am a bit worried if this is something for me)

Drydown: sugar/caramel, vanilla and some fruity freshness . Positively edible in a delicious kind of way. Fruit cake 🍰 meets candy shop 🍭
Surprisingly well balanced and well done for such affordable scent.

Not great staying power on skin, but for the price I'm not complaining.
It's seriously sweet, if a scent can give you diabetes, this must be it.
It's cute, fun, girly. I like it 🥰

littlesparks

Super sweet, but overpoweringly so... A confusing, plasticky scent. It does not smell sugar sweet to me, but fragrance sweet. An oh that’s perfume smell, not an oh that’s a good smell. It’s definitely popular for a reason, and I don’t mean to bash it. It does smell nice in an objective sense, but the sharp edges bother me and my nose.

Jmb1959

Based on the notes, and some of the reviews, I didn't think I would like it but since it was so inexpensive, I had to try it. I don't detect the scent very long on my skin but I have been spraying it on my pajamas at night and I can still smell it in the morning. I really like it a lot and just ordered the 3oz bottle

Proxima

All I can smell is synthetic toilett-like scent which is not even that sweet (and I love sweet scents).
I checked the batch and it is 1 year and 5 months old, so I don’t know if I got a bottle which went bad or what happened but I don’t like it at all. I wouldn’t recommend it to younger girls because it smells more mature probably due to licorice.

amciaamciusia

sweet, but sweet with a hint of burning plastic, it's not that overpowering, but you can smell it. nonetheless, really cute and very, very girly :3 i can see a pink loving, mini skirt wearing, rich, long haired mean girl in a 2000s' romcom spraying this on herself after an encounter with the shy main character, who gets a makeover and wins prom queen at the end of the movie, while the mean girls storms off mad, leaving a pink sugar cloud behind her

Nataliemespino

If you want a straight up synthetic, sugary-sweet fragrance, then this is for you. For my taste, it’s WAY too sweet. I don’t really smell the other fruity/citrus notes, it’s just plain sugar to me. The reviews are correct in that it’s pretty long lasting. The synthetic scent is just too overwhelming for me to wear on a daily basis.

poopoopants

anise-y caramel-y burnty cotton candy sorta stuff its fine tbh but i wanted like more sickenigly sweet pure candy

Scentstrumpet

Okay, so, here’s the thing: yes, it smells delicious. No, it does not smell sophisticated (what do you expect from a scent called “Pink Sugar,” though?). Yes, it will turn heads. No, it isn’t a “serious” perfume.

Aquolina’s “Pink Sugar” smells like a candy shop plus bakery in one. Think sugary candy of all kinds, plus buttercream frosting and cakes. The next time you’re at a supermarket, go into its bakery and inhale deeply. The scent of frosting so strong that you can almost taste it in your mouth? That’s “Pink Sugar.”

All of the reviews for this perfume - positives and negatives - are correct. It does smell like “that” one hot but also aggressive girl from school who would get into fights with people. Very assertive, to the point of meanness. It is worth noting that despite its seemingly innocent name, this isn’t really a child’s perfume.

Not that it matters, but here’s an anecdote for you: I happen to have made acquaintances with a few exotic dancers. Aquolina’s “Pink Sugar” is almost, like, a uniform of sort for them and their colleagues, and has been a mainstay for the past 10 - 15 years. It is to exotic dancers today what “Lovespell” from Victoria’s Secret was to that industry back in the early - 2000s.

cumballssemen

Blind buy from TikTok (ikik) but I was happy with it, I bought it off eBay and have kept it as my sig for about a month. Drydown is cute and it stays in the room for a long time, not sure about longevity on skin but it might just be me. Only thing that puts me off is the huge licorice note that punches you in the face for about the first 5 seconds after you spray it. Very cute <3

audreyofarc

Idc that it's super sweet and annoying, this is so fun and yummy and I'm very picky with gourmands. Pink Sugar you will always be loved!

Medenasovicka1

I don´t understand all the reviews claiming that this is good. I gave it to my friend at first I loved it and wanted to get one for myself too, it smelled like everything that was promised, sweet, candy like, like a snack. Then after like maybe an hour all I could smell was this incredibly disgusting cheap wannabe vanilla scent, everything else was gone. Later she told me that her boyfriend said that he should buy her some good parfume because this one stinks. :D Idk if I just got a bad batch or something, but meh. I really wanted to love this but couldn´t.

gum-

When i first discovered and smelled this i didn't like it but everyone kept saying how wonderful it smells and about the delicious caramely cotton candy smell that they get, that i kept trying to like it by getting the body spray and the other variant of pink sugar that being berry blast which ended up making feel sick and the body spray was just okay so i gave those away and stayed away from pink sugar in its entirely for awhile but after smelling pink sugar on a girl in school it awaken a new love for the perfume and i had to get it and when i did i fell in love with it especially now since the juice is starting to get darker it makes it smell so much more yummy. i think i should have just got the original at first like any other person would but this perfume is delicious truely one of the best gourmands out there

perfumekiwifigorange

Terrible! Headache in a bottle and nausea inducing! Synthetic and sickly sweet, it has killer silage and will stay on you and around you even after scrubbing it off in the shower.

Jmalone84

Any kiwis reading this there’s a really nice dupe for this that frankly smells better than the original (imo) NEAT fierce fragrance range ‘beauty’ the perfume oil is really good. If the OG is a bit juvenile/cheap smelling or too sweet for you but you want a similar vibe I would hands down use neat perfume oil.

veronica9p

Trashy. Straight up trashy.

From reading the notes, I was expecting a soft, pleasant, innocent, cozy/warm/comforting sweet gourmand scent.

Instead, it smells cheap in the worst way possible.

Smells like something the trashy, loudmouth girl with big hoop earrings and cheetah print leggings who always got into fights in high school would wear lol.

LadyLazurusSav

I love sweet perfumes but this shit was disgusting. Smells like an asscrack that had just shit out a truck load of candy.
Its so awful. Please save your money and nose, buy something else!!

ilonkailonka

She's loud. She's confident. She'll strike up a conversation with just about anyone. It took you some time, but you've finally come around. You can't help it - you want to be her friend, just like everybody else.

Alright, I take my earlier review back - the licorice finally convinced me. I get it. This one's for those c***y days 💅✨

P.S. A little goes a long way. Projection and longevity are high; gets cloying after more than 2 sprays.

TheCandyperfumegirl

First of all let me confess something to you all that I love everything that is sweet. And most of my Fragrances are gourmand. Though I can't wear them all year round as the weather of our country is really hot and humid but I spray them every now and then all year round. So, whenever I watch or read a Fragrance blog I always see almost everyone loves Pink Sugar. Being a gourmand fragrance lover I had to have it in my collection especially as it's not a bank breaker.
🍭So after using this for the first time I wasn't sure whether I love it or if it's too much even for my taste. It smelled a bit synthetic and as I'm a heavy sprayer the smell wasn't complimenting my taste buds. But after few hours I found myself sniffing my own hands constantly. Then I realized this fragrance is really addicting. And for the next week I sprayed this almost everyday. I just couldn't get enough of this. I just kept wanting more and more and asked everyone around me how do I smell almost every other hours 😂
This fragrance is really sweet. The name justifies the perfume. It's extremely sticky sweet like cotton candy or burnt sugar to be more precise. So if you don't like extremely sticky sweet Fragrances then stay away from this Perfume. You'll hate it. But if you're like me and don't mind roaming around smelling like a cotton candy machine then it's a must have for you.
🍭At the beginning I got burnt sugar mixed with citrus type smell. Later this turned into sticky sweet caramel and Cotton candy with licorice and a hint of vanilla. I didn't get any Musky or Woody note to be honest. And this smells the same from the beginning till the end to my nose and it's super long lasting with heavy projection. It's really a must have for gourmand lovers. At first you may find it overpowering. You just have to give this Perfume a little time and it will grow on you.
🍭It's already cold in the area where I live so I can't be sure how this will work for summer. But as I've mentioned before I prefer to avoid this type of extremely sweet fragrances during extreme hot days. I'll post a update next summer after doing few wear tests. But all I can say for now is that this perfume is sweet and sticky but not sickening sweet. It's really sweet with the prominent notes of Cotton Candy, Caramel, Licorice and Vanilla but at the same time it smells really soft and fresh as well. I know it sounds crazy.
I believe anyone who loves gourmand can wear this no matter how old they are. A little sweetness doesn't hurt right? Specially when there's too much bitterness around us!!!

Quite surprised that the smell stays on clothing for very long, days.

bailarina

Wear it when it's less than 50°F outside. It is warm and sweet. I used to find the licorice a bit too harsh, until I wore it at 45° and then everyone said I smelled like cookies. Unless you don't want to smell like food😉

gostodemanga

it’s overly sweet, even for my taste (i only enjoy sweet scents), so i don’t like wearing it on my skin. however, i really enjoy spraying it on my clothes, so i just use it for that. the price is amazing though.

WitchyStarlight

I find that that this compliments vanilla scents or strawberry scents if you layer it with one or the other. I think by layering those, it mellows out the tart strong sweetness that this spray has when worn alone. Upon dry down the caramel notes are more apparent and it turns into a delicious gourmand scent on my skin. I went to bed wearing this (alongside Gingham Gorgeous from Bath & Body Works, a strawberry scent) and it lasted all the way until morning when I woke up. So I'd say the longevity is super good! But honestly you could wear this alone too, I think its quite versatile.

Schondis

This layered with vanilla fragrance oil = heaven💜 on it's own it's nice too but for my taste too much cotton candy sugar and not enough vanilla so I like to mix😊

NBeeeeeeone

I mean...this is the OG :)

The love of my life forever. This always got me the most compliments and men just love it. I wore it so much, I evolved from it lol. But I always keep a bottle in my collection.

ursula368

Only can find licorice here... Disappointed

ilonkailonka

The licorice reeeeally has to convince me, every single time. The drydown is pretty good, but then I find something about it a bit... lipsticky, maybe? Unfortunately this didn't live up to the hype for me.

Update: Ok, so I wrote that review on a bad day. I still find it super weird, but weirdly intriguing. I'm starting to get it. It's definitely growing on me. It's also one of the few perfumes my boyfriend has noticed and complimented me on, so it might have to go into the date night rotation.

books.art.dogs

This is almost identical to Al Rehab Soft, which I love. Very sweet with citrus keeping it from being cloying to me. It reminds me of an iced lemon pound cake.
Great lasting power, especially for an edt. If I layer Pink Sugar with Soft, the scent lasts all day.
I get compliments almost everytime I wear this.

hnk11

I will always love this. So sweet it’s almost cloying but I love this type of sweetness. Like burnt sugar with some citrus. Super feminine and young.

napalmsmoker

sickly sweet to the point of nauseating, but as long as you don’t overspray it’s good. Once it dries down its less sickeningly sweet and settles as a long lasting scent

london.alaine

this is by far the perfume that lasts the longest on me- unfortunately i grew out of the scent because it is just TOO sickly sweet for me. if you are looking for a girly gormound scent, this one is good and affordable

primadoll

Girl get this it’s so cheap and it is so worth the money. It does have this licorice bite in the initial spray, but it develops into an addicting cotton candy smell, truly warm and sweet like cotton candy there’s nothing else like this tbh. It ticks all the boxes of a good scent. It’s addicting like the sour/salt/spicy flavor of takis or something idk never tried those but I imagine that’s what it’s like sounds ghetto as hell.

QueenbeeSara

Its smells like pure Candy. Super sweet, really strong, but gets softer after some hours.
If you want the real cotton Candy smell you cant find better than this. I do think its a fragrance more for the younger side.

Anniechannie

I had to have this after all I heard about it in fragrance groups and communities. I did a blind buy on a set at Marshall's since I found it on clearance after Christmas. I was so hoping this would be a super sweet (so many people said it was too sweet for them) cotton candy/sugar scent. I especially adore candy, sweet, and, in general, gourmand scents. I do like the scent! I pick up that licorice note pretty heavily. On the dry down, it still smells of the licorice, but I do get a nice sugary note as well. The performance is amazing! I put this on before bed and woke up smelling it. Definitely worth the price point for the scent and longevity alone. I'll definitely use this EDT- it just isn't what I was looking for or what I was expecting. If you have recommendations for the absolute sweetest, tooth decay type scents, please let me know! (Think cakes, frosting, gummy bears, cotton candy, vanilla, marshmallows, chocolate.....)

Faeriecoma

She’s cute it’s like yum pistachio gelato without the pistachio. I wanted to try pink sugar because I always hear it being referenced in the fragrance world as bad and good. But unfortunately where I bought it, it was expired smelling :/
8/10
Definitely would wear but my bottle went off.

zjes

I honestly love this scent so much. The longevity and sillage are overperforming compared to the price. It is sweet and slightly spicy and just screams gourmand. I feel the cotton candy, caramel, vanilla, and fruits! not much of the licorice though.

I sprayed this before going to bed and when I woke up, the scent was still there :) It lasts 8+ hours on my skin, which is amazing considering the price.

Overall for the price, this EDT is amazing, definitely a safe blind buy! <3

JanaBanana

Pink sugar has my heart! It was a blind buy and it was love at the first sniff. It's sugary, warm, happy scent with great projection and sillage. Proper compliment getter!

BellicoseHoney

Smells so sweet and sugary in the bottle and quite nice on my skin. Unfortunately as soon as I put it on all I had were middle school lockerroom flashbacks and had to scrub it off. Very pretty for a teen or young adult but my association with the scent from middle school is too much for me to look past.

AugustWolf

This was a mostly blind buy for me while I was just grabbing some cheap perfumes and judging them off one spritz into the air at the store. This one wasn't even my top choice originally, but it ended up being my absolute favorite. This perfume blends so amazingly with my chemistry, I can smell every single layer and note listed as it dries down and it's phenomenal.

The opening is very much giving the embodiment of "pink". It reminds me of those coveted pink icee pops we all had as kids. It's very early 00's socialite, str!pper-core, mcbling, gyaru, scene queen vibes. It smells like candy but to me it's in a very pleasant, nostalgic way that isn't cloying or overpowering. It reminds me of a perfume I had in highschool that I loved (So..? Kiss me) but with more complexity. It does share a few notes when I compared. As it dries down the sweetness calms and it becomes more sultry, smokey, and musky; giving it a more "mature" sexy edge.

I find this perfume to be incredibly complex, and I found myself sniffing it throughout the day and night because it's evolution was so lovely. It's kind of baffling to me that so many others are only getting sugar or cotton candy from this scent. In my opinion because of how many gourmand angles this perfume hits, it can be usable any season or time of day. The bright opening and deepening throughout the day lends itself to all day wear appropriateness.Right now it's winter for me so I may update later with how it works in hot weather, but that's my theory.
It was very long lasting, it became more of a skin scent by night but that lingered on until the next morning.

I think a lot of the hate this fragrance gets is just due to weird capitalistic pressure to buy more expensive so-called "mature" frags as we get older. But really in the end, there are plenty of adult women's perfumes considered more "high end" that have practically the same notes and candy qualities but less complex and at an inflated price, and people praise them all because of marketing and name dropping.

Blossomlove

If you’ve been led to buy Soft, buy this instead. It’s better, imo. I love the burnt sugar notes. It’s youthful, playful, girly, sweet and I don’t care that it’s not a complex, esteemed fragrance-it is what it is-it’s fun! I keep it on hand when I’m feeling nostalgic of my early 20’s and want to feel young and girly. It’s great in the winter.

toxictorrent

I thought I would like this since I love gourmand but this is terrible. This smells EXACTLY like Al-Rehab Soft to me. Sharp, screechy, and almost plasticky. I get a lot of sharp citrus in the opening before it dries down to a screechy kind of vanilla. Not a safe blind buy, even for gourmand lovers.

psychomoment

LOVE this scent! not super into sweets, but WOW this scent is heaven on my skin. on the skin i can mostly smell a sweet vanilla that's intoxicating with a touch of the cotton candy, but the cotton candy isn't sickeningly artificial. just a good kind of sticky sweet. when first applied, it can be smelt across the room but it DOES need to be applied throughout the day. i personally love this scent as is, so i use a plain unscented lotion and vaseline. not overly sweet, very enjoyable scent 15/10 this is my new daily. (i do work in an professional office setting and i am under 20, this is not offensive to the nose)

ArielleDelores

I wanted to like this one but the licorice note is just too overpowering 😭 i’m gonna be brutally honest right now it STINKS

marianasvala

Beautiful fruity sweet girly fragrance! At the firat sniff it really reminded me of Fantasy by Britney Spears but as the time went by it sit beautifully on the skin! I much prefer the dry down over the very seet opening, as time passes by and you get a whiff of the scent it’s much milder and not as sugary sweet, and I get much more of that brown sugar and fruity notes! Such a nice affordable perfume especially for spring/summer ☺️

TreenOfLane

Did I get a bad batch or a fake? I bought it off the Walmart website in November. It's terrible. It smells only like alcohol. I can't get any other notes, no sugar, no licorice, etc. It seems like letting it macerate hasn't made any impact. hmmm.

amandalu

iconic, my first perfume when I was like 14 and still scared of Sephora. This is Dior Poison Girl's younger annoying cousin. The initial spray is overwhelming and you don't need a lot, but it settles nicely and layers with more musky smells really well. I feel bad for my middle school teachers who had to deal with everyone overusing this perfume.

sweetcherie23

smells like a cotton candy ice lost mary which just gives u a headache...i ended up throwing mine out but it is a very distinctive smells very cheap shoddy smell that someone was wearing the other week and i was feeling nauseous its just not a nice perfume at all

justabakerygirl

smells like cotton candy but in an obnoxious way. the type of sweet that makes you go “UGH!?” way too sweet for me, and the smell makes me… nauseous and irritable? could literally induce a headache. do not like.

CelinaPerfume

Sooo liquorice-y, notfor me

Snnn_

This perfume reminds me from my early 20's. It is soft and sweet and cheerful.

juliajulianna

It was all over social media and looking at notes I was pretty sure this will be amazing. Let me tell, I honestly had to scrub it off my hand immediately as it was making me nauseous so bad. I wasn’t expecting that! NOT a safe blind buy.

Mae10

im shocked at how many people likes this perfume. it was a blind buy and i dont think i like it that much! its a 10 year old kid perfume lol & people keep saying its sweet and i smell citrus!! CITRUS!!
i dont think i like citrus with sweet notes. i see the base note is more my vibe so im waiting for the dry down ill test it out but so far feel like its tacky i gotta give it time & see. its cheap so i didnt waste so much money on this. I will let it macerate & comeback

vpace91

Smells EXACTLY how you would expect something called Pink Sugar to smell. Lol. It's very early 2000s. I can't say I'm going to wear this one a lot, so I'm giving it a very middle-of-the-road rating because it's still a kinda fun and cute. I would have to be in the right sort of mood for it. I *am* interested in finding ways to layer it, because I haven't layered any perfumes yet so that's intriguing to me. Idk if it would overpower or just add sweetness to another fragrance.

perfumejunkie90s

Yall the notes on this is sooo wrong its what the name says pink sugar & Cotton Candy but not in a grape way at all just pure cotton candy but not in a gourmand way, in a sugary way is all I get...

yelrog

SO GOOD for layering. I was shocked to see the amount of notes this actually has, because for years I thought it was just pure cotton candy/sugar scented. Absolutely delectable, great for everyday wear, not too strong, a lot more intimate of a scent. I will probably always keep this in my collection

Zethre

Good sillage and lasting power. It's a sweet gourmand, sort of citrussy but with no nasty lemon pledge notes, and the liquorice note lends it a grown up air without being strong.

Ilovechai89

Love it or hate it, this is truly one of the most polarizing scents of all time. I feel like most women have owned a bottle or at least smelled it before in their lives

Pink sugar is an immediately identifiable fragrance, once you’ve smelled it I doubt you’ll be able to forget it for better or for worse. I’ve never seen a perfume evoke such strong emotions for so many people, it’s honesty impressive and dare I say iconic and I truly believe it’s due to the strong licorice notes within it. Wherever black licorice goes strong opinions follow since it’s naturally synthetic smelling on its own and it’s heavily amplified when in fragrance.

I will forever own a bottle plus a back up of this incredibly unique and unapologetically black licorice beauty 🍬

elmos

it depends on the batch u get really. first time I got it, I hated it and gave it to my sister then I got it again as a present and it was AMAZING to layer with. sugary cotton candy scent but has a synthetic note to it because of the price (obvs).. u really just gotta get a good bottle I would say

Shimmer412

Super sweet, sugary cotton candy! I love it! I’m a huge gourmand lover and this has got to be the sweetest fragrance that I own! It’s flirty, playful, and fun! It’s got a great price point and excellent performance! I only need a couple sprays and I’ll still be able to smell it on me the next morning! The silage is also excellent, so people can smell it from a couple/few feet away!

I know people can sometimes view this as a youthful/juvenile scent, but even though it does feel youthful to me I still feel like almost any age group could pull this off! I’ve been wearing this for around 15 years and plan to continue wearing it for years to come!

Pink Sugar reminds me a lot of Skylar Boardwalk Delight! Except in Boardwalk Delight it’s like Pink Sugar took a beach vacation!

m0userella

This is the ultimate tramp perfume and I love it. Despite it coming out in 2004, this would've been an extremely popular scent years before it launching. I think this perfume, in a way, is very timeless and versatile. I could see 80s glam metal groupies wear this.. 90s/00s socialites and queen bees, Playmates, McBling girls, alternative pin up models, strippers, scene girls from the late 00s, any character from the movie Showgirls or a John Waters movie... anyone who is sexy in a spunky way. You either love this perfume or you hate it which is why I believe this perfume is exactly for polarizing girls with eccentric styles who people either find iconic or find tacky.

vanillacookiecrunch

I really tried to like this one, I’ve even tried layering it and I think it’s absolutely disgusting. It smells like burnt plastic. I’m a lover of sweet fragrances but this is not it.

angelicforce777

had the body mist for a while and i loved it!! got the edt for christmas and it’s like falling in love all over again! i don’t get no licorice on me just burnt sugar with sweet lemon! one of my favorite scents ever!!

aloegarten

I got a sample of this and was looking forward to smelling it as I love sweet scents, but I’m extremely disappointed. All I smell is burnt sugar and licorice and it got worse the longer it sat on my skin. If you like the burnt sweet smell then get it but I personally hate it so I definitely will not be buying the full bottle

Tashateex

This is a great gourmand fragrance best suited for fall/winter as otherwise can become cloying. This to me smells of caramel, vanilla, liquorice, and berries. This is soooo long lasting (will surpass the whole day) and has good sillage, and gets me compliments. This is such an amazing cheapie and amazing performance for an EDT. Will always keep in my collection.

hembry

this is such a lovely fragrance that makes me feel like a freshly baked cookie. The performance is really really good, especially for the pricetag. I don’t find it particularly immature, but I’d say it is not for everyone. Like with any other fragrance, it has to mix well with your personality and style.

Lauren_Trouble

Burnt sugar, cotton candy & rubber. Decent performance, however imo gets kinda cloying after a while.

Texasperumefan

Forever repurchase, on my 7th bottle. Opening is in your face, but it settles into a soft, sweet scent. Once you let it settle, it’s the sweetest scent. It’s creamy sugar with a bit of raspberry. Pairs nicely with other sprays. Lasts forever on your clothes and hair. Out of everything I own, if I could only keep one fragrance, this would be the one.

Deliza1997

I think the name gives away how it’s going to smell. It is a surgery sweet vanilla fragrance. The opening is citrusy sweet and the dry down is vanilla and caramel (more caramel than vanilla). I don't know about the other notes that's all I perceive from this. It is a simple, cute bubbly fragrance with good performance. People may say it’s a teenagers' thing but my old a## nose loves it.

ventez

A nice vanilla sugary scent to use on the daily. Totally gives of y2k vibes and reminds me of Brown Sugar from Beauty Control, a perfume i used a lot when i was a kid. So having it now in my 20s is totally bringing some nostalgia back.

discochiq

great first perfume for young girls, simple sweet and expected. You could easily find soooooo many dupes though that smell just as good. If your looking for a gourmand with depth, this is not the one. I mainly used this on my hair after showering and on my pillow just for a nice smell

Glambunni

I purchased this two days ago as it's been haunting me for a couple of months now when I first tested the fragrance. The notes listed are exactly how this fragrance smells and its very sweet but dries down to a caramelized powdery vanilla scent.

bimbobunny

i love this perfume so much because of how sweet and girly it is. i'm obsessed with the y2k/mcbling style and this perfectly embodies that :) i thought that the licorice will bother me at first but it dries down rather quickly to a delicious, slight burnt sugar-tinted vanilla cotton candy !!! i think it's a such a good everyday scent

alessiatommasone

I let this macerate...and I can't get enough of it. this perfume is sweet in all the right ways, and if u let it sit for about 2 weeks, it turns into a perfect, addictive smell. new fav!!!

labilemelancholic

this perfume reminds me of the average mean teenage girl in high school movies. the one who has heavy eyeliner and besides the perfume smells like cigs, that type of girl. i love it so much tho, the price point is great too
i sprayed it on my friend and could smell it when i was around her, the sillage that isnt the annoying beast mode but not the one that you cant smell unless youre really close
the longetivity is also great, lasts a long time for me but i think it rlly depends.
u got to have the mentality to pull this off tho lol, not for everyone

kestrele

I love the idea of this and the image I get from smelling it, but I don't like it on me. I usually like gourmands and sweet fragrances, but this lacks warmth and depth (to my nose, at least). It has some artificial sweetness for sure, like burnt sugar. A burnt marshmallow? Caramel on the verge of being overcooked? I'm not a fan of either-- not into caramel or burnt marshmallows at all, even as foods. This is definitely more of a me-problem than a problem with the fragrance. I actually think it's perfect for other people, especially at this price point!
It is a vibe, but not my vibe. Have fun, girlies!

Loliky

Adoro los perfumes gourmand, y ésto un básico para las personas con mis gustos perfumisticos similares, pero para mí, demasiado bombo No és para tanto, lo mejor si precio, pero para un gourmand ni de base le doy uso.

yungmich

Very artificial and cheap.

alessiatommasone

seems to just smell like liquorice on initial spray and doesn't go away for a while. will update once macerated as I really want to love this one.

marss

It’s been a couple of years since I’ve purchased this perfume but it was my staple scent till I couldn’t get it off the shelves anymore, its still one of my absolute favorites the memory of how this one smelt lingers even after years its soft and feminine and absolutely cozy with a sweet edge of innocence I hope the recent production still smells the same as the 2015-2018 batches

kellyrwallis

I don’t know if I just got a bad batch of this but it’s absolutely disgusting. All I smell is petrol, one of the worst perfumes I’ve ever smelt in my life.

Kathie_KW

It's such an affordable scent. I do like gourmands and saw this recommended by YouTuber and I do like it. I really like the opening but where I find it most useful in layering. I love mixing it with Gujarat- which is very spice forward almost to a fault. Having those sweet notes in combo w the spices is great. Definitely a cold weather scent. It's pretty sweet - arguably sweeter I think because of the fruity notes. I love the anise in there. 4/5 especially bc of affordability. Not a bad nighttime scent alone. Cozy.

molten_pearl

Bought a new bottle from an online retailer. Not a bad price (paid $24 CAD). Its popular enough with young women my age online so I figured it couldn't hurt to try a cult favorite.

First spray upon unboxing was a liquorish bomb. There was a little bit orange that I could detect but mainly, it was the scent of black liquorish. Its unmistakable. Thankfully, I'm not fully opposed to the scent of liquorish, just the taste lol. Funny enough, I didn't think it was that sweet. All the online reviews seemed to imply that it was a tooth-ache in a bottle and that most non-gourmand lovers wouldn't like it. The liquorish gave it a sort of spicy kick and it didnt remind of a candy store as much as it reminded me of a tin of spiced Christmas cookies. Maybe I sense something molasses-like in here? Within a few hours, the test-patch on my skin faded into a slightly sweet nothingness. Considering all of the hype it got online, it certainly went out with barely a whimper, I thought.

However, I'm not a total noob, and I sprayed a little on a sticky note I had on my desk, just in case it developed differently. I waited patiently for a few minutes. It was pretty much the same spicy liquorish scent as it was on my skin. Bummer. "You win some, you lose some," I thought. I chucked the sample sticky note onto my dresser table and went to bed.

HOWEVER, the next morning as I was getting ready, I was smelling a mysterious sweet, caramel scent emitting from somewhere on my dresser. Not too strong, but definitely noticeable enough to raise some questions because sweets in the bedroom is a big no-no for an area with mouse issues. I pause before reaching slowly for the sticky note that I had sprayed with the infamous Pink Sugar. I took a slow whiff. There it is.

I soon came to realize the magic lies in the dry-down and silliage. The paper, about 20 or so cm from my nose emitted something sweet and girly. Pink Sugar in all of its sweet, trashy McBling early 2000s glory.

I don't know how much use I'll get out of this one, but I doubt functionality is what the creator of this had in mind. The bottle is still new, so I will come back once the juice has had some time to mature for an updated review. I hope the liquorish top notes have an opportunity to mellow out and allow for a much quicker introduction to the sugary drydown.

OloraGolosina

My third blind buy, for the price, you can't go wrong at all with this one. The smell, at first, reminds me of a fresh night at the fun fair walking along the stalls of cotton candy and catching a whiff of the candy apples. after 30 min on my skin it converts to some sort of vanilla baby soap, It doesn't smell like cheap perfume but it's definitely not a refined formula, I bought it mainly because the reviews are mostly positive, and they indicate it is a long lasting fragrance. I applied it at 7am and the aroma was present until 12 noon, I suppose this is acceptable. I really like it, it is a winter fragrance, especially for the Christmas period, it smells like dessert, it evokes that lovely cosy aroma of love and happiness that spreads all over the house, like the steamy fragrance you get when cooking the Christmas ham with pineapples, cherries and honey. It is good value for money.

funkadelic15

I remember buying this with my own money when I was about 12 or 13 (15 years ago). And I think that was/is the perfect age for owning this perfume.

It is sweeeet sweet sweet gourmand. Actually, I'd say this perfume is the absolute #1 EPITOME of a gourmand perfume. Nothing tops it. This is a perfume that is straight sweet and no depth, in a good and bad way I suppose... definitely no off notes... It always got compliments. And the packaging is soo cute. I loved even looking at it on my dresser as a teenager.

Truly, I think it is a right of passage to own Pink Sugar. And sure... It isnt remarkable by any stretch of the imagination. But for the price, and for a young girl getting into perfumes... it is an absolute winner. I wish i still had my bottle for nostalgia's sake.

nzgirl

I think this is a nice, affordable, fun scent for the holidays. It just smells like cotton candy. Inoffensive and sweet. I'll use it a lot for Dec.

Disturbedalchemy26

Bought this for my pre-teen. She loves it. Reminds me of smelling a doll's head. Like a Barbie's head or something... sweet but plastic-y. Not for me but i guess it suits the target audience - little girls.

cherrywns

blind buy - heavy liquoricce scent but i dont mind as it balances out the sweetness of pink sugar

Catyy

The most cotton candy smelling fragrance in the market. Very juvenile and even sickly sweet but very long lasting. Kinda reminds me of the sweet scented Maybelline lipsticks.

Glyceryl

The opening is really lovely and sweet. Unfortunately the dry down on my skin smells like sweet burning plastic. Hard pass.

celyn_jo

I'm in my 30s, but I love Pink Sugar.
I suggest to just have a maximum of two sprays of this to fully enjoy it and to not choke others with its sweetness.
I love how bright and airy this is, and yet, it has a great staying power.

It's a great bedtime scent but could also be worn at any time and place as long as used moderately.

LanaDelSlay

Sickly sweet cheap juvenile scent that gives me licorice candy vibes in the background. not worth buying it unless you are a pre teen it'd be cute

violets1

Sweet and smells like candy and cake.

taylormarie

A true classic. I recently added this back into my collection after a several-year hiatus, and I’m so glad I did. It’s the perfect sweet, cozy, girly scent for colder weather. It lasts forever too, with great sillage - you only need a couple of sprays. I plan on wearing this on Thanksgiving while I cook for the family to maximize the warm and cozy vibes 💕

AniFragmento

For me it smells like cotton candy and burnt sugar with creamy vanilla which develops beautifully with my skin, I'm 37 and I'd bathe in it, but definitely not in warmer weather.

rosiekposie

Every time I spray this on myself I think "ew I must be remembering it wrong, this is so bad" and start to be sad that maybe my bottle is too old and the juice has gone off.

Then it dries down to THE best soft sugary sweet candy smell, and I am reminded that THIS is why I keep coming back to it.

Smells so good on my clothes the next day. If I already know what I'm wearing the next day, I'll go ahead and spray this so it will be aged enough to smell amazing.
It does nottt smell so great to me fresh.

One of my favs though after it's calmed itself down.

Ferrerorocher

It doesn’t smell that great like sweet air freshener. Was expecting a nice sweet smell. This is burn your nostrils sweet

Dark_Venus

Tried it at the store. Super sweet and synthetic. Not horrible but not great. Just sugar lol.

Tipsy

Sugar Berry from Good Chemistry is a perfect dupe. Smells 100% like Pink Sugar and is cheap as **** at CVS (or Target might have it too).

nonabean

opens with a burst of fizzy berry that reminds me of Burberry's Her, then settles into a sweet red licorice smell. distinct, but quite soft on me. i wish i got more caramel in there but i'm excited to see how it ages.

hot_imouto

Smells sweet and lovely, I get a lot of the licorice. Performance is however not great on me, but this is cheap so I don't mind reapplying. It's not mature, but neither am I so who cares

gourmandfairy2

Men love this. my bf loves this and always compliments me when i wear this

Momto3Balls

I am late to the Pink Sugar train. I always see it on discount stands and thought it would be too fake sickeningly smelling. Picked up a cheap bottle to get free shipping and I absolutely love it! It's not overly cloying, instead it is soooo comforting. My bottle has aged to a dark amber colour. This lasts ALL day on me. It's sweet and comforting. I get brown sugar, vanilla, red berries and a hint of licorice. Perfect on its own and for layering. The Berry Blast version is great as well. It's lighter and more berry like. Bonus is that these are so cheap! It's a LOVE and I am OLD lol.

ellemn0p

Got it as a gift. Not a fan of gourmand scent so I was not too fond of this. If you live in a cold weather then this is totally wearable.

QuarantinaSno

My experience with pink sugar.
The cotton candy is the first thing I picked up on when I sprayed it. Closer to being dried down I could smell the berries and after it’s was newly dried down the pepper, vanilla and sugar started to shine through.Within an hour the caramel starts to peek out a bit too.
It invokes feelings of warmth and comfort in me, kinda making me remember fair days at my primary school.
All in all it’s a wonder fragrance that deserves to be bought over and over again.

HeatherNS

I agree completely with braxypooh below me. I could not have said it better myself. This lasts forever on me and projects. I can smell it on myself for 7-8 hours.

braxypooh

this perfume is so unique, the way it changes from different scents.

when first putting it on, 10-20 minutes: at first, you get that REALLY LOUD licorice smell. it also has a fruity smell, like strawberry. i kinda smell the raspberry
20-30 minutes: i smell the rich cotton candy. it's so sweet and loud and kind of caramelly too.
30 min-1 hour, rest of day: i smell caramel and vanilla.. i also smell tonka bean. it's not too loud but very nice and sweet. a beautiful gourmand scent.

this perfume lasts ALL day. i love it so much and i like pairing it with Fantasy by Britney Spears. it gives it a sweet cupcake, cotton candy, sugary smell. a beautiful summer scent. SOO GOURMAND! 🤞🏾
if you like fruity cotton candy, sugar, licorice (which fades away), and vanilla with a little caramel, get this perfume. you will enjoy it. PLUS it's soooo inexpensive omg??? love love love! 🫶🏾

ALSO (EDIT): if you are looking for something cheaper (even though pink sugar is already cheap) try 'Soft' by Al Rehab. it smells prettyyy similar. it can be purchased off Amazon for 7$, but the price changes. i have the oil and it lasts forever. it smells pretty identical just with more citrus/lemon. i hope this helps!!

Salome2545

I'm unfortunately one of those people who don't like this very much. I haven't used it too much, and would love to swap. Please let me know of anyone is interested! My insta is @_rainstorms_

SeriiWhiffs

This is basically all the sweet and nice things trapped in a bottle. It's dry down is sugar. I love everything about it except it's pink (just because I am not a fan of pink color).

PrincessPP

The list of perfumes that Fragrantica says people also like who like Pink Sugar led me to do a blind buy. I love Angel, La Vie Est Belle, Alien. Those were all on the list. This fragrance in my opinion has nothing in common with those. This smells like marshmallows. A bag of marshmallows. I don’t smell licorice or any floral scents. Just a big ole bag of Jet-Puffed. On me the sillage is non existent. I think it’s a little too juvenile for a woman in her 50s. I’ll be selling my almost full bottle.

Sweetcove

This little cutie has all my heart. I have tried countless perfumes, from high-end, to cheapies. It’s one of the longest lasting fragrance not only on my clothes but also on my skin, which is quite rare to find.

The first spray is surprising, a very strong blast of lemony burnt sugar. And I get it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. I think it helps with longevity a lot. And it gives giving the fragrance some backbone.

But after a few minutes you get the sweetest, most cuddly powdery vanilla/cotton candy. It manages to stay airy and soft.

It’s my perfect everyday scent, so pink, cozy and girly. Perfect for layering too. My favorite combinations are with Bare Vanilla from VS and with Ari from Ariana grande.

It’s the perfume my now husband prefers on me, and it’s the one I chose to wear for my wedding. People constantly compliments me on this perfume.

It reminds me that you don’t have to complicate everything and that life can be soft and sweet 💕

cybernymph

been wearing this every day ever since i bought it. i’m so obsessed.

bluejellyfish444

The first time I tested this felt like going through a journey of nostalgic scents. Though I hadn't smelled this perfume before - it's not available in any physical stores where I live - it didn't feel like it was the first time I'd crossed paths with it.

I was gradually able to identify the scents from my childhood that it mimicked: a vanilla hand sanitizer from bath and body works, the frosting on a cupcake at a classmate's birthday party, scented strawberry-shaped erasers, a cotton candy lip smacker, and a plastic doll that'd just been taken out of its packaging.

Every time I put on pink sugar, I'm able to experience those moments once again. For that, it's become my go-to cozy perfume, which I find myself wearing to bed more and more.

I see that many people aren't fond of the licorice note, but to me, it's what keeps the fragrance from being juvenile by adding a spicy twist. It's similar to the sweet licorice in lolita lempicka mon premier and mon guerlain intense, two other perfumes that I love.

vtothek

Despite being such a simple scent, with the price point being so low I think this is a must have for any collection.

It’s just a big blast of sugar and smells a lot like being doused in cotton candy. I don’t really smell any individual notes aside from “sugar”. Somehow it’s not nearly as cloying as it sounds, and it’s not a super heavy scent at all. I can honestly see anyone of any age wearing this, but of course it leans very young and I can totally see pre-teens just getting into fragrance being huge fans of this. It probably layers very nicely with other things.

It’s simple, it’s sweet, you don’t have to think about your scent too deeply when you wear this. It’s certainly not for every occasion, but it’s fun! Rock it if you like it.

mocam

I blind bought this and really wanted to like it. I don’t have any gourmands and thought to try this OG. I have been going through a nostalgic phase and wanted to regress back to my teenage days of VS Pink body sprays and sweet scents. Unfortunately, I don’t think my body chemistry mixes well with this. I wanted warm vanilla, but instead it smells like sunblock on me. Think coppertone or banana boat sweet. I’m going to give it a few more tries, otherwise this might become an air freshener for my house 😭

Pink Sugar is a classic. Its often a love it or hate it smell. Im a gourmand girly who loves sugar scents but i can easily see how the sugariness of this one could be headache inducing to some. One thing my nose hates about this scent that keeps it from being great for me is the licorice note. I hate licorice both in smell and taste so I am not a fan of its presence in this perfume. However, after some time it begins to soften and keeps a very strong sillage and very sweet sugar scent for several hours on my skin. With the small price for a bottle, and such strong lasting power: this is my go to for sweat inducing activites such as clubbing, go-go dancing, and raves. Pink Sugar has been time and time again a favorite among men when I wear it. Ive gotten tons of compliments from the opposite sex when i wear this. For these reasons, Pink Sugar has been in my perfume stash for years.

Theonlydeija

A gourmand girly’s DREAM. Smells synthetic the first whiff but as it dries down smells like cotton candy being spun fresh at a fair, if ur body chemistry mixes well with it it’ll stay sweet, some say it has a smoky smell….I don’t get that at all. Burning hot sugar like caramel being made, yes I do get that.

vivihxc

I was initially attracted to this perfume due to the aesthetic of it. The bottle and packaging was cute, I just had to buy it. It delivered what I was expecting; girly, gourmand and youth. The beginning threw me off because it was a strong alcohol citrus scent. After a few minutes it settled into my skin, and it started smelling like sugar and cotton candy. But it also had like a smokey note. It’s as if you’re melting sugar and it ends up burning and the sweet aroma mixes in with the fiery smoke.

Peaches&Cream

I bought this two years ago and at first I didn’t really like it. I let it sit for a bit until it macerated and worn it, I loveee the smell of pink sugar. It is definitely gourmand, I like to layer it with body mist or perfumes. Throughout the two years I have worn this a lot through fall, winter and early spring…I can say that on me it lasts very long. I am now finishing up my almost empty bottle & i repurchased another bottle. This perfume will always be in my collection .

missingbonnet

A bit like ldbs but with a sharp pinch. My brother commented it smelled like cake.

luvyfaery

smells like burnt sugar with a hint of caramel to me. Also dries down to smell like sweat. Maybe it just isn’t for my skin chemistry.

strawberryswitchblade

After getting rid of a sample many years ago because I found it way too sweet and obnoxious, I just ordered a full size because of the comments here and the unbeatable price. And lo and behold - I made a 180 degree turn. Sugar, caramel, and a hint of vanilla. It is carefree, sweet, fun and non challenging. In summer or in a crowded, stuffy room or on a packed plane it would be nausea inducing, but for any other occasion in autumn or winter it is perfect. I can’t detect any licorice smell or any of the other mentioned notes. Only the musk makes itself known after several hours. Longevity is amazing

J'aimeunefragrance

Call me basic but I love it! Wonderfully juvenile.

motherofdjembe

An absolute waste of money. Gave it away the next day. Eck.

The Original Vanilla...
Predominantly a vanilla scent, this 2004 Fruity-Floral Gourmand combines vanilla, cotton-candy & caramel into a blend that's been the inspiration behind many dupes, clones and similar scents. The other notes in the pyramid are merely accents imho, and some will be more detectable than others to different people. For me the other notes register most when sniffing the skin, but in the air I get a nice well-rounded vanilla that's an attractive feature of many later scents, including some of my favourites. I was late to the party here, and may have written this scent off without trying it due to the marketing. I don't know exactly what I was expecting, but I was pleasantly surprised to find a really good vanilla scent with fantastic performance, that works as a stand-alone fragrance, or layered with other scents. It's a love for me. Enjoy!

jsmn

Based off of the main accords, I should love this fragrance. There is no such thing as too sweet for me. However, the dry down on this is just a sweet but burnt smell that I do not find appealing.

LadyT33

Young, like teenager young. Creme brûlée caramelized sugar, cotton candy and vanilla birthday cake sweet fragrance. It’s girly and pink. Not a bad thing. I’ve worn it. As a woman in her 50’s I almost feel like it’s a little too young for me. I love Hello Kitty but wouldn’t wear a Hello Kitty shirt out of the house because I’d feel like a jerk, but hey, that’s just me! That’s kind of how I would feel I wore this fragrance now.

Danielwinter27

Good price good performance but does make me feel a bit stick it's so so sweet

AncientModernAncient

Somehow, I've never smelled this before. I'm not a gourmand or sweet scent person at all (probably scarred by smelling endless fruity sweet B&BW nightmares growing up) but I'm trying to expand my comfort zone. I tried the body mist at my local Marshall's and only smelled burnt sugar, almost challengingly so. I was intrigued, and after reading so many reviews of this as being the classic of all cotton candies, I blind bought a bottle of the EDT.

Holy licorice bomb. The opening does not mess around. I didn't get any licorice in the mist at all, but this is something else. I actually enjoy the licorice note - I love anise, and it was really nice to smell it so forward in a gourmand. And then? You were making caramel on your stove and you got distracted by your cat knocking something over in the other room, and came back to black, burnt sugar. It's filling your nose, kitchen, the rest of your apartment. No amount of scrubbing will remove it from the bottom of your pan. Eventually, the licorice and caramel stop fighting long enough for the cotton candy to drift in. On the drydown, it's lurking there with the caramel. Pink spun sugar.

Other people love this one. I sprayed a single spray on myself in another room, and my partner walked and said that something smelled absolutely delicious, like someone baking. Having never worn a scent like this in my life, I sheepishly admitted it was me. She again reiterated I smelled amazing and that we should have this as a candle.

Despite its reputation, I don't think this is juvenile. It's *a lot* and a sillage monster, and I think anyone could wear this regardless of age or gender if their personality suits it - it's not a wallflower perfume. And if I'm honest with myself, deep down, there's also something really attractive about smelling delicious.

Unfortunately, something about this reminds me at points of (forgive me) nursing homes when I wear it. I'm thinking it's the infamous plasticky DNA, or even just the way the licorice note is acting. If it didn't have that, I'd absolutely keep this, even if only because it garners so many compliments.

ETA: I can't stop smelling myself??? No more nursing home, I love this. I desperately want to find a cozy, warm, sweet scent to wear now.

DarrB94

Also I don’t get the comments saying the quality isn’t the best & it’s for children? Pink Sugar was sold in Sephora at one point..that alone tells me it has to be somewhat good quality (in my opinion) & it’s 100% wearable by any adult. Not everyone wants to smell like a bouquet of flowers to prove they’re “grown up” sheeshhh lol.

DarrB94

It’s something about Pink Sugar. I have hella other fragrances but this one I have to have in my collection at all times. For my fragrances that are very much so masculine leaning, I spray this with it & it balances out perfectly. To the guys, don’t be afraid of this. If you don’t want to wear it alone, layer with it.

kittenpawz

Every time I wear it I like it a little more and feel like there just can't be any "more" but a few days pass and I'm proven wrong once again. Vicky456 is right that it smells better once the juice darkens, also when it darkens it's safe to overspray - 10 sprays and I don't mind it at all, whereas in the beginning even half of that was overwhelming. Fruit-chan also made a good point about layering it with niche and luxury perfumes. Niche brands usually want to appear as if they are above gendering perfumes but most unisex scents are created either by removing both feminine and masculine traits, making it smell bland and generic, or clashing them together which works out as often as it doesn't. Pink Sugar is a beautiful feminine scent that would give a unisex fragrance character or make it less rough around the edges. It's one of the rare cases when a company goes all in on the sweetness and delivers, and even licorice doesn't diminish it. Musk is a very tricky note in general because it has to be the absolute best quality, otherwise it smells revolting and so do many musky cheapies by extension, but not Pink Sugar; despite its very modest price and musk being high up in the notes, it doesn't smell of low quality musk.

Shyamala Maisondieu is a genius for having created such an addictive yet affordable fragrance that's still hot after almost 20 years despite not being particularly groundbreaking or luxury. She later went on to co-create a few Good Girl flankers with other Givaudan perfumers and I'm positive she uses the same kind of vanilla there. It's the most top notch crème de la crème vanilla I've ever smelled in a fragrance. Speaking of those creations of hers, Pink Sugar line is similar to the Good Girl line in the sense that both have their own unique and instantly recognizable synthetic perfumey DNA people either love or hate, so if you like one of those iconic lines there's a high chance you will like the other one. It's not for you if you only accept niche and sophisticated scents into your heart and on your vanity, like if you expect to smell Montale or MFK in this candy cane you'll definitely be disappointed. It's simply a very uplifting girlish gourmand scent. Licorice evaporates a few hours in but Pink Sugar stays true to its plasticky DNA until the end which might sound bad on paper, so if you're not a risk taker, try before you buy. There aren't many truly sweet perfumes like this however, and it's most certainly one of a kind. It'll probably always be one of my favorites.

galateax

I got this recently because it kept popping up like a sign for me, its cheap so I blind bought it.
I hate it. It smells so bad and somehow it smells like something burnt? Burnt sugar? Burnt sugar in a plastic bowl? I don't know but I will give it another try in the cold winter since it seems to be recommended for that, but as og now this isn't a gourmand in my opinion, and j feel this can make people around you very nauseous!

Qx.susie

I get why people love this, but it definitely won't work for everyone.

I have skin that tends to bring out masculine notes, so the sweet spun sugar note is completely overpowered by the scent of licorice. No mater how long I let it sit.

I've sprayed this in my room before and came back to the sweetest most satisfying cotton candy like smell, but then tried it on myself and got nothing but lemon and licorice.

I have all the flankers and the best one is the red velvet, if you want the least amount of licorice and best lasting power.

Berry blast is too childlike candyish and creamy sunshine is a synthetic mess of yellow floral, lemon, and moss.

That being said, I still get complimented on this all the time and I will purchase a 30ml just to have. It's very juvenile, but good to have when you just need something that's sweet and will project.

QueOndaGuera

This was my signature winter smell in the last part of high school and in college. Definitely meant for a younger crowd and I would feel odd buying it again as a 30 something but I love Pink Sugar. Sweet burned sugar plus a little citrus something is the most dominant scent I get and it allllways got compliments.

Nosestalgic

Every one can feel how their gonna feel about this scent but personally I have always loved it and will continue to purchase it as long ad they make it. You can get the body spray more for 8 bucks at Meijer. I absolutely love the sweetness and warmth of this scent. It may smell juvenile to some but honestly it just makes my nose happy.

dxjon

joining the war on pink sugar… on the side of pink sugar.

to me this is the perfect perfume for two distinct characters: the flashiest, pinkest, juicy couturiest, dog in bag-iest, charmiest mean girl of them all, and the other is dahlia hawthorne from ace attorney.

on me it leans towards the buttery/sweet way that cotton candy and sugar cookies and cupcakes smell like, and as it moves throughout the day more of the vanilla tends to peek out, and it gets warmer in the same way a hot coral pink is, with peeks of licorice and berries slipping through.

it’s sweet in a nostalgic way but also, if used correctly, can smell slightly unnerving/unsettling, in the same way that angel is. if angel’s power is more obvious and in your face, pink sugar hides hers in her coach purse until the time comes. it’s a mainstay in my arsenal for a reason!

lasts way longer than most edts on my body, and I always feel like I’m in a bubble when I spray this on. if I spray in the morning it lasts way into the night. if I spray at night I wake up with it in the morning. its very fetch.

combo this with scents that could use a bump by some heavy sweetness or something spicy and anise-y to bring out the licorice.

lyka

très douce odeur de vanille, conviendrait bien à une jeune fille, en plus pas cher donc très bien. si vous aimez senteurs vanille et caramel sucré, parfum à essayer

spaceybailey

I will forever be obsessed with this PERFUME. Top note: Hubba Bubba Bubble Jug (pink jug) in your face, not for the weak!! LOSER, double loser, WHATEVER! Middle note: A hot cup of vanilla BREVE latte, delicious whipped cream on top with caramel drizzle and a sprinkle of cinnamon. That settles into your skin wonderfully. It’s a COTTON CANDY & strawberry milk concoction while smoking a cigarette, giving "main character" VIBES. Courtney Shayne who ruled with terror (in her purple outfit) smells like this. ON PURPOSE. So, you know it's good. "You're nothing. We're everything. You're the shadow, we're the sun." It's beautiful, POPULAR, loved, feared. All you've ever dreamed of. NO, this is not girly, it's peachy f*cking KEEN and lasts longer than most of your friendships. I prefer to wear it at night. TOODLES plus cherry flavored Jawbreaker BISOUS.

cristianaclg

I really do enjoy this fragrance and it's suitable for any occasion. I smell some burned sugar and cotton candy. LOVE IT!!!!

Linda_80

Love it!
It's sweet like sugar,candy,caramel,liqourize..
And it's extremely longlasting.!!
3 sprays can be too much of it,lol.
Lasts all day,all night, the day after untill I scrub it off.
Suits best for cold autumn and winter days, because it's so 'heavy' .
Reminds me of a perfume Ive used before, but cannot tell which one..

lavenderincenseluver

I love it! I get pretty strong liquorice and caramel :) it smells like if you smelt my pick n mix bag😅 the liquorice is strong at least on me so keep that in mind when buying. def a hate it or love it one🙂personally i looove gourmand scents, this one was nice! i can def get the vanilla and strawberries and raspberrys as well. I feel like this could be fitting for a younger invidual, but anyone can wear it of course😁😁so nice

batwinqs

Bought this as a blind buy as I was told this was THE gourmand perfume to get on a budget. BIG MISTAKE. All I could smell was licorice and burnt sugar. Doesn't help that the scent is disgustingly sweet, linear, and cloying - I got frequent headaches wearing this. This is probably my least favourite fragrance I have ever come across.

oddsoy

a disgrace to gourmands is so accurate 😞 im so disappointed with this. i thought it was gonna give rich sweet caramel but its like a scratch and sniff cotton candy sticker from the 80s. i could see a pre teen loving this, tho.

chickenlittle

So frickin nasty. This childish monstrosity is a disgrace to gourmand fragrances. I deeply regret trying this on my skin, as I now smell like a five-year-old who bought her first body spray with her mommy's two dollars.

Other than the juvenile quality, the scent profile is fruitlessly complex. It is just weird and I can't identify anything other than a burnt sugary mess. Makes me wanna vom.

whitefoxes

(2019 batch) The dry down is where it's at. It reminds me of pink fairy floss at the royal show 15 years ago. It's yummy.

grafgr

I'm in love with Pink Sugar and every time I reach for it I hear Logan Roy say "You are not serious people" (I'm 39 years old). Well, the heart wants what it wants.

ANNAFRYS

my mom loves it

SallySong

Sickly sweet perfume that assaults your senses in the worst way. Even the dry down is horrid. Smells very manufactured and far too strong. I love sweet, gourmand scents and this one pops up along with my favourite perfumes often but I genuinely do not understand the hype.

baddie

I wanted to love this soooo bad but it's so screechy. To me it opens up with a very citrusy sharp note that dies down into liquorice and that's it. I just smell like a really sickly sweet liquorice mixed with berries but I don't get cotton candy. I just get cheap notes, it has a plastic like smell and it's just overall really not what I expected. Everyone that I asked to smell it hated it as well so it's really a let down unfortunately. I am a big fan of vanilla gourmands but unfortunately this wasn't it because the vanilla shows up way later and I'm not willing to get through the horrible opening notes just to get to it.

horselashes25

everyone will smell it. pair it with a vanilla body cream and you quite literally smell good enough to eat. it would smell odd for anyone over the age of 25ish to wear it.

KiikiKiiki

Compliments magnet. I pair this with everything and it always turns out fantastic. Back up bottle worthy.

ladyjb

Is it my skin or is it my nose? Both? Because I have no idea why most people can call this an overwhelmingly sweet fragrance, it smells like old cardboard and licorice to me. Why! I want to love this! I want to understand why people rave about it!

lovedive

pink sugar holds a special place in my heart for always allowing me to touch into my early 2000s sugary janet jackson someone to call my lover marshmallow frosting with a touch of pole dancer side whenever i wear it while also being a good everyday scent that sits close to the skin but still gives you a cotton candy aura all day for $30~ but it wasn't a love at first sniff for me, it gets better as the liquid darkens like the other comment said

Vicky456

This smells so much better once the liquid darkens, very candy sweet but not overbearing. It’s not sharp at all like it is when the liquid is more clear. It smells like a well mixed cotton candy scent when it’s like this.

zana08

As someone who is Al-Rehab Soft EDP enthusiast I really wanted to try Pink Sugar. Please, take this review more like comparison of these two fragrances.

First of all its much more easier (at least in my country) to find Pink Sugar, for Al-Rehab I must search for specialized shops with oriental goods. Pink Sugar cost me about 14 euros for 100ml, Soft was 7 euro for 35ml (which would be 19,5 euros for 100 ml) - both are pretty cheap.
About the bottles..... Al-Rehab have this bottle shape for more of their fragrances and it looks just nice and the size is perfect to put it in your bag. On the other hand, Pink sugar bottle look like perfume my 13 years old cousin would use or something you would pulled out of the Y2k time capsule... I'm just not a big fan.

Do they both smell the same?
They are similar, but there are also some differences between them.

The first difference is the amount of alcohol I smell when I spray them. I don't smell almost any heavy alcoholic smell from Soft, it's very well blended with a nice citrusy smell even for the first seconds after spraying. PS is a little bit more harsh for my nose and it took me about 30 second to stop smelling the alcohol. After this alcoholic smell disappears you can enjoy the sweet the sweet-fruity and citrusy scent. And there is the main difference between these two. Pink Sugar has extra fruity flavor added and its this sweet little plasticky artificial raspberry note (which is kinda fun). At the same time you smell this raspberry from PS, Soft is melting its sweet citruses with caramel and vanilla (very soft vanilla) and it creates a caramel topped lemon shortcake on your skin.
After few hours I can tell there are some minor differences (PS still have this fruity flavor added), but YES, they are pretty similar (about 90%).

Summary:
Soft is like a better, more well blended and mature version of Pink Sugar. The longevity of both is very good but Soft last much longer with pretty decent sillage, but for PS since its EDT the longevity is much better than I expected. I don't think that you need both of them and I would always recommend Soft rather than Pink Sugar, but if you really like one of them and want to try something on that note but little bit different - just buy them both, they are very good perfumes for the price.

Thank you so much for reading my comparative article and I wish you a nice day!
Zuzana

Edit: After some time, I must say that I would recommend you to buy Soft, I barely touched PS. I can safely say, that Soft is really much better than PS and I don’t think that they are the same, similar but not same.

Edit: I just found out, that Kayali Yum Pistachio Gelato have similar dry down as these two perfumes...interesting

mpdunford

This perfume is absolutely vile and it truly makes me nauseated. I LOVE sweet smells & gourmands so after reading so many reviews about this being the sweetest it gets, I decided to cave. I can’t even begin to describe the initial spray. Burnt plastic, cat piss, and licorice? Sweet where??? Blind buy fail. I did some more reading and thought I should try Pink Sugar Red Velvet instead. NOPE! Both are nasty and have that cat piss note.

tayschuett

If Pink Sugar has million fans, then I'm one of them.
If Pink Sugar has one fan, then I'm THAT ONE.
If Pink Sugar has no fans, that means I'm dead.

Pink Sugar makes me feel like I’m the main character in a girly 2000s movie. It makes me want to put on some Britney Spears and flip through People magazine while I let my nails dry. It’s an immaculate vibe. A lot of people dislike this fragrance and say it’s too juvenile , but I don’t believe scents have an age group or gender. If you like it, you like it.

I love love love this fragrance and always will. To my nose it’s simply sugar. The perfect amount of sweetness. The body spray is slightly better for layering in my opinion, as it’s not as intense. If you layer with either, always put these powerhouses on first!

Fruit-chan

This is my dream fragrance.I only wish it lasted longer.I layer this with my niche perfumes and its heavenly.
Fave combos that work perfect:
Pink Sugar + Baccarat Rouge
Pink Sugar + Kirke
Pink Sugar + Ombre Leather
Pink Sugar + Angel
Basically it goes with everything but those are my tried and true.
If Baccarat is mom Pink Sugar is the daughter.
Excellent fragrance.100% gourmand. It does what it promises. Its better than many much more expensive perfumes which claim to be gourmands but all dry down powdery and boring.

fruity_iykwim

I want to like this perfume because I see the vision. but I just hate it. it blasts me straight to headache world. it's just so damn cloying.

yes, there is a licorice note, and it's kind of strong in my opinion. I don't think it is primarily a cotton candy fragrance, but more of a burnt sugar/caramel/almond scent. it's not a dupe, but it does remind me of angel by Mugler. I would consider it more of a cousin.

overall, this is worth picking up if you like sweet scents. it may not be the safest blind buy, but for the price you can't pass it up. you can almost always find it at the outlets like tj Maxx and Burlington for under $20.

Kuty22

Gave this one to my younger sister, she really likes it
To my nose is just - Meh

BrittXo

If you know the smell you’re either a fan or you’re not. I’ve loved this scent for yearsss for $20 each time. I’ve bought it more than 4 times. Something just keeps me going back. I’m a gourmand lover, and pink sugar is definitely gourmand. It’s like burnt crystallized sugar mixed with cotton candy, juicy sweet raspberries and vanilla. A sensual sweet perfume with depth, and it literally lasts for HOURS.

kittenpawz

Just like the name suggests, Pink Sugar is sugary sweet. If you're (cool) old enough to remember Katy Perry's music video for "California Gurls", this is what it smells like, and it even comes in a candy cane inspired package! Cotton candy clouds and a realm made entirely of desserts.
I'm a huge lover of sweet gourmand fragrances and couldn't pass on the iconic Pink Sugar which I got without sampling, relying solely on my intuition, and it didn't fail me. Earlier this year I was briefly obsessed with the idea of getting an impossibly sweet cotton candy-like fragrance (my exact words), and here it is! 100% sweetness.

Despite the rich pyramid, most notes are very subtle and hard to spot. The most prominent ones are cotton candy, licorice, caramel, vanilla and strawberry, in this order. At times I could smell vanilla ice cream, strawberry cupcakes and whipped cream for some reason.
It opens with intense (mostly)sweet-(vaguely)citrusy notes that swiftly make way for the most authentic cotton candy scent and licorice - the burnt thing that some people smell. I'm not familiar with the specifics of making cotton candy and whether it can be burnt/overdone, but this is the feeing I get. It's not overpowering to my nose and doesn't ruin the sweetness at all. Licorice disappears eventually 3-5 hours in, and Pink Sugar becomes a very simple sugary scent, not even caramel as much as just plain sugar - by that time you might begin to feel like this perfume has overstayed its welcome. Tonka beans give it some depth, the dry down gets a bit woody which I like but not as much as the licorice note here.

Great longevity, especially on clothes (1 day later it's still strong) and especially for EDT. Usually lasts from the first spray and until I go to sleep on my skin but it's definitely a skin scent by the end of the day. Although I don't want to nitpick on that considering the price.
"The burnt note" sounded disgusting until I actually smelled it - it turned out delicious on me and I can't get enough of it. It oddly completes the fragrance - not really the same after it's gone.

Pink Sugar is a sweet feminine scent that evokes your inner teenage girl who still secretly likes cartoons just as much as she likes fashion magazines and makeup. Very youthful and as girly as it gets.

Edit: a few days later the top I had on when spraying Pink Sugar on my chest started smelling like the most delicious sweet cookies, not artificially sugary ones but baked with love at home. I could vaguely smell it on other clothes from the laundry basket. 10/10 worth the purchase.
